Conservatory Roof Insulation System

Internal Insulation 1/2The vast majority of our customers contact us because of failing roof systems. Typically the conservatory roof is badly discoloured or leaking and requires refurbishment or replacement panels and seals.

Recently though a growing number of people are replacing their existing roof system with a highly insulated roof. This insulation regulates the temperature within; reclaiming a room during the coldest winter months and eliminating over heating issues in the summer months.

Specialists in the remodelling of existing conservatories; we start by removing the existing roof covering and running in new structural elements to the roof where necessary.

We then fit a high performance water proof, breathable membrane to eliminate condensation; insulate the roof with Kingspan and Super Tri-Iso multi foam below. Achieving an overall heat loss compliant with the very highest levels required by current building regulations.

Internal Insulation

Temperatures inside most homes are maintained at a level of around 20°C in living areas and 17°C in bedrooms. In the UK, the outside temperature is generally lower than this, especially in the winter. Heat flows from the warmer interior of the house, through the fabric of the building, to the outside. The U-value represents the rate at which heat is lost through a part of the house; such as roof, walls or windows. The U-value, expressed in units of Watts for every square metre of roof and for every degree temperature difference between the inside and the outside, or W/m²K.

As an example, if the roof has an area of 20 square metres; a U-value of 0.24 W/m²K  and the temperatures inside and outside are 17°C and 5°C then the rate of heat loss through that roof is 0.24 x 20 x (17 – 5) = 57.6 Watts

Kingspan Insulation is one of the market leading manufacturers of premium and high performance rigid insulation products. Thermapitch TP10 is a high performance (thermal conductivity rated at 0.022 W/m²K), fibre free, rigid thermoset insulation core covered on both sides with a low emissivity composite foil facing; used to insulate warm roof spaces in ventilated or unventilated pitched roofs, under tiles or slates.

TLX Insulation

TLX Insulation specialise in the manufacture of thin, high performance foil insulation which improves the thermal performance and eliminates the risk of condensation; it vents moisture like a breather membrane and yet insulates like non-breathable PIR board. TLX Gold is Sd intelligent (the more moisture, the more it breathes) which is why there’s no condensation risk.

TLX products have been used in over 20,000 roofs in the UK, fully BBA certified and endorsed by the LABC.

By combining rigid insualtion with foil insulation we can achieve an overall U-value of 0.24 W/m²K.
