At Charnwood Conservatories, we take pride in transforming tired, outdated conservatories into stylish, energy-efficient spaces that can be enjoyed all year round. Based in Leicestershire, we specialise in conservatory roof replacements and full renovations tailored to each customer’s needs. Below, you’ll find a selection of recent projects showcasing the quality of our workmanship, with photos and brief descriptions highlighting the results we’ve achieved.
Edwardian Style Conservatory - Roof and Gutter Replacement
This Edwardian shaped conservatory required a standard roof renovation to replace the roof and guttering. The old design coupled with the many trees surrounding the house, meant the client was often having issues caused by blocked gutters.
To fix this, we stripped off the old roof and fitted the new tiles up to the brickwork to cover the gutters and leave no gaps, and finished with modern Britmet Plaintile tiles that come with a 50-year warranty.
Internally, we added top-quality insulation for increased temperature regulation and energy efficiency, and ran in new electrics. We also insulated and sound-proofed an additional door that the client no longer needed.

Edwardian Style Conservatory - Warm Roof Replacement
This Edwardian shaped conservatory required a standard roof renovation to replace the old glass UPVC roof. It was looking worn-out and required a lot of maintenance to clean. We used high-level insulation and Britmet Shingle solid light-weight tiles which come with a 50-year guarantee.
As with all conservatories on bungalows, this had a long inaccessible box gutter which we fully re-lined and changed to an open gully, ensuring no more blockages and leaving it fully accessible.
Internally we installed a new lighting set up and finished with a plastered ceiling, providing a versatile space that no longer runs too hot or cold and matches seamlessly with the rest of the house.

Victorian Style Conservatory - UPVC to Traditional Slate Roof Replacement
This project had real sensitivities being on an old farmhouse. The old UPVC conservatory roof had aged badly and was cheapening the overall look of the property.
We replaced the old plastic roof with traditional Welsh slate, that was chosen carefully to match the rest of the house. We also fully-insulated and plastered the interior, fitted with running electrics and lighting. All in accordance with modern building regulations.
Over the past 15 years, this is the conversion that has had the biggest wow factor in terms of visual improvement. We’re particularly proud of this one!
Duration: 10 days (To note – Traditional slate is a slower process than modern engineered roof systems).

Bespoke XL Conservatory – Full Renovation
This bespoke conversion was one of the largest and most complicated projects we’ve completed so far. Due to its size and unique shape (9-sided and measuring a whopping 6 x 5 meters), the clients informed us that they’d previously reached out to three other conservatory companies who refused to provide them with quotes. It was essentially like combining three standard conservatories into an extra-large one. Thankfully our experienced team was ready to take on the challenge.
Carried out with full building regulation certification, we replaced the old glass roof with Britmet shingle solid tiles. The client also asked us to incorporate a sunroof, which we installed using triple-A grade glazing, along with premium insulation, electrics and plastering for the rest of the ceiling.
We are proud to have transformed such an interestingly shaped space into an area that can now be used all year round.

Victorian Hardwood Conservatory - Full Roof Replacement and Renovation
This project involved the complete refurbishment of an existing Victorian-style hardwood conservatory. The roof and wooden frames had completely rotted beyond repair, so we took down the entire conservatory and adjusted the brickwork to support brand new UPVC reinforced units and doors.
We installed a structurally-rated roof, ensuring compliance with modern building regulations, and finished the interior with plaster while the exterior was elegantly completed with Britmet shingles roof tiles, which come with a 50-year guarantee.
This renovation also included construction of a new fully-insulated and plastered high-wall, along with a newly designed electrical setup for a TV / media wall. Now known as the kids den, it’s made a huge difference to how the home now operates…all in under a week’s work!

Bespoke Double Conservatory - Roof Replacement
Starting its life as a standard Edwardian conservatory, it was later extended by adding another conservatory to the side. However because they had been built separately, each side had independent gutter systems which were prone to blockages and leaks during bad weather.
After checking for structural integrity our team got straight to work stripping out all the old gutters, adding insulation to remove cold bridges, and built out brand new soffit and facia detail so all the guttering acted as one. We finished with a new rubber deck liner guaranteed for 25 years, replacing the old tiles with Britmet Shingle tiles that are specifically designed for conservatories and come with a 50-year guarantee.
No matter the issue, with over 40 years’ experience in construction, you can rest assured that your conservatory is in good hands with Charnwood Conservatories.

Edwardian Style Conservatory - Standard Roof Replacement
This project required a standard roof replacement for this Edwardian conservatory. We added high-grade insulation in accordance with modern building regulations and added Britmet Shingle lightweight tiles for the exterior.
The process was slightly more challenging than usual, due to a box gutter restricting access, but our experienced team of tradesmen are used to navigating these types of problems, so all went well.
